Obituary of Annie Meyer
Wabasso Standard, Redwood County, Minnesota
July 18, 1902
Mrs. Nicholas Welter Passes Away After a Lingering Illness
As stated in last week's issue of the Standard, Mrs. Nicholas Welter died at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. Meyer, Thursday morning, July 10, at three o'clock. The cause of her untimely death was consumption.
Early last September Mrs. Welter contracted a cold, and that it would result in such disastrous consequences was never for a moment considered. As time went on and she could get no relief, a physician was summoned during the early part of January and he pronounced it a case on consumption. From that tome on her health rapidly failed her. About ten weeks ago she wrote from her home in Wood Lake, to her parents here that she thought she had but a short time to remain on this earth, and these she wanted to spend at her old home. Her father accordingly drove over to Wood Lake and brought her and the children to his farm home. About a week later her husband joined her and he has remained here ever since.
Mrs. Welter, nee Annie Meyer, was born in Wisconsin, May 9, 1871. In 1872 she removed with her parents to Redwood County on the farm where she spent her last days on earth. Eleven years ago last January she was married to Nicholas Welter and removed to Wood Lake, where she resided until a few weeks ago. For eight years her husband owned a harness shop at that place.
She was a devout Christian and a member of the Methodist church. Her end was peaceful, indeed she went like one who wraps the drapery of her couch about her and lies down to pleasant dreams. She bowed without murmur to the will of God and Savior, in whom she trusted. As a faithful daughter, wife and mother her work was ended.
Besides her husband and five children, three girls and two boys, she leaves her mother and father, brothers and sisters to mourn her seemingly untimely departure, to seek re-union in the mansions of the skies.
The funeral took place Saturday afternoon. A brief service was held at the home at 1 o'clock, and at 2 o'clock the remains were taken to the Presbyterian church, where Rev, Frederickson preached an impressive sermon. Many teams followed in the funeral cortege to the New Avon cemetery, where the remains found a lasting resting place.
H. Meyer, grandfather to the children, says the bereaved little ones will share in the comforts of the old home, as he wants them to stay together.
Among those from abroad who attended the funeral were, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Menke of Fon de Lac, Wis., C.W.Hauck, Mrs. J.P. Hauck, Mrs. Schlenner, Mrs. Sperber and Miss Lizzie Sperber, all from Wood Lake.
Card of Thanks
We desire through the medium of the Standard to express our most heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the many friends who so willingly assisted us during the illness of our daughter. The many kindnesses tendered us will always be remembered.
Mr. and Mrs. H. Meyer
Nicholas Welter.

Obituary for Mrs. P. A. Schons nee: Annie Welter
Nicollet Leader, Nicollet County, Minnesota, June 28, 1913
(The USGenWeb Archives)
Mrs. P. A. Schons of Granby township died last Saturday morning at 12:45 a.m. at Loretto Hospital, New Ulm, to where she was taken two weeks ago for medical treatment. The deceased had been in poor health the past six months, and no fears were entertained that her demise would come so soon. A day before her death she suffered a paralystic stroke from which she never rallied.
She passed away peacefully surrounded by her husband and six children. Annie Welter was born in Ozaukee county, Wis., Nov. 10, 1861, and when a small girl came to Le Sueur with her parents. About 32 years ago she was united in marriage to Peter A. Schons, who with eleven children survive the loss of a beloved wife and mother. The chiildren are Mrs. Matt Schouveller of Waubun, Minn., Mrs. Joseph Mans of Belgrade; John Schons of Nicollet; Mike Schons of Courtland; Charlie Schons of Granby, and Miss Margaret, Nick, Peter, Joseph, Anton and Leo at the home place in Granby.
The deceased was known to all as a kind hearted Christian woman whose patience with suffering and kindly nature endeared her to all. She was a home loving woman and the best interests of her large family of sons and daughters were ever first in her mind.
The funeral was held from the Middle Lake Catholic church on Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock and was conducted by Rev. W. J. Skluzacek assisted by Rev. John Wagner of New Ulm and Rev. A. Ziskovsky of Comfrey, and interment was made at the church cemetery. The pallbearers were Jos. Ritz, Martin Schouveller, Peter Picker, John Galles, Ed. Leonard and Fred Grommerich. The relatives have the deepest sympathy of the community in their sad bereavement.
