Biography
Samuel Whipple lived and died in a house on Abbot's Lane, near North Main Street, in Providence. The house is called the Abbott House, and is still standing. He gave by deed of gift land to his son, Noah, dated May 8, 1695; also a deed of gift to son Samuel of one hundred and fifty acres and dwelling house about three miles northwest from the town of Providence, on both sides of the Mohassuc River, dated November 25, 1706. He died March 12, 1710, and was buried in the north burial-ground. His wife Mary died December 14, 1722, aged 83, and is buried by his side; also his two daughters, who were first and second wives of Robert Curry, of Providence. His will is dated March 9, 1710.

He married Alice, daughter of Thomas Angell, of Providence, January 26, 1669-70. He died intestate, August 25, 1719; wife Alice and son James appointed to settle his estate. He gave his son Job land by deed dated April 27, 1710. Also to son Eleazer, February 4, 1716-17. Deed from Eleazer, James and Job, of Providence, to their brother Daniel of Wrenthan, Mass., three-fourths of a small house-lot in Providence, the other one-fourth being already in his possession, dated February 24, 1721-22.
