Michel Cadotte (Kichemeshane - Great Michel) (1764-1837)4th great grandfather

Also known as Kechemeshane or "Great Michel" by the Ojibwe, Michel was a sucessful M├ętis fur trader of Ojibwe and French-Canadian descent who dominated business in the area of Wisconsin and the south shore of Lake Superior. His marriage to Ikwesewe, the daughter of an Ojibwe chief, won him the affection of local tribes.
David Ferdinand Durenberger (1934-)Second cousin, 1 time removed

An American politician and a former Republican member of the U.S. Senate from Minnesota from 1978 - 1995. He was born in St. Cloud, Minnesota, attended St. John's University and graduated from the University of Minnesota Law School in 1959. He served in the United States Army from 1956 to 1963.
Eugene Joseph McCarthy (1916-2005)3rd Cousin, 1 time removed

An American politician and a long-time member of the United States Congress from Minnesota. He served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1949 to 1959 and the U.S. Senate from 1959 to 1971. In the 1968 presidential election, McCarthy unsuccessfully sought the Democratic nomination for president of the United States to succeed incumbent Lyndon B. Johnson on an anti-Vietnam War platform. He would unsuccessfully seek the presidency five times altogether.

Retired attorney and former associate justice of the Minnesota Supreme Court from 1980-1994.
William Whipple Warren (1825-1853)First cousin, 4 times removed

The noted historian of the Chippewa Nation, was born on Madeline Island in Lake Superior the 27th of May, 1825. He was a member of the second Minnesota Territorial Legislature in 1857, and was then residing at Gull Lake, Minnesota. He died in Saint Paul, Minnesota of tuberculosis in May, 1853, at the age of 28. He was often employed as a goverment interpeter and laison with the Chippewas. He was the author of "The History of the Obibway Nation" published in 1885 by the Minnesota Historical Society.
Roger Williams (1603-1683)9th great grandfather

He was an English theologian, a notable proponent of the separation of church and state, an advocate for fair dealings with Native Americans, founder of the city of Providence, Rhode Island and co-founder of the colony of Rhode Island. He is the originator of either the first or second Baptist church established in America.
